Ian is a life-long teacher by profession with fifteen years in wine education, holds the WSET Diploma, is a WSET Certified Educator, trainer on WSET ETP courses and WSET Sake Educator; Official Bourgogne Wines Instructor; International Bordeaux Wine Educator; CMS Certified Sommelier; CSW and CSS of the SWE; an AWRI Advanced Wine Assessment Course graduate; visited wine regions around the world including educator visits to Bourgogne, Bordeaux, Alsace, Australia, Chile, Japan for Sake with educator qualifications for Portugal, Vintage Port, Sherry and New Zealand.
Ian lived in Hong Kong from 1994, teaching wine courses from 2000 until he left in 2014; he taught at five university and college centres in HK and Macau. Courses ranged from WSET levels 1 to 4 and specialist tastings; teaching many hundreds of students. Now in the UK again resurrecting a wine teaching life having continued to (ghost) write for magazines and the internet. Currently teaching wine programs at The Hotel School, City College, Norwich.
