Craig Bancroft, Managing Director of Northcote was thrilled with the outcome, “We were delighted to host this first Signature Sherry Week Dinner and to be educated by Ignacio Lopez of Valdespino in the finer points of Sherry Wines. We believe matching with food is the key to enhancing people’s understanding of these wines and the sherries paired exceptionally well with the menus created by Nigel Haworth and Lisa Allen".
Northcote, which was recently voted UK AA Hotel of the Year 2016, has a huge focus on training and development for their staff and the wider wine trade. "It was therefore also important to play a part in educating other influencers in the wonders of these wines" continued Craig. The wine trade lunch was open to selected Sommeliers, Restauranteurs and other wine trade professionals, many of whom had a thorough understanding of Sherry but took the opportunity to expand their knowledge of food pairing and explore the rare and unusual wines of Valdespino.
The evening's dinner hosted both Sherry lovers and self confessed Sherry virgins. They were treated to an insight to the prcoess of creating Sherry and an introduction to the styles of wine prior to a five course menu showcasing the full spectrum of Valdespino Sherries."Overall the evening was outstanding and we look forward to building on this success for Sherry Week 2017.” said Craig Bancroft. What more can we say? We look forward to it too!
