The XIV edition of the prestigious annual Bacchus International Wine Competition was held from 18-21 March at the Casino in Madrid. Eighty tasters, ten of them Masters of Wine and the rest of them Master Sommeliers or senior wine buyers, blind tasted their way through 1,854 wines from 21 countries.
Only 13 wines were considered worthy of a Gran Bacchus Oro which requires a minimum score of over 93 points, seven of them were Spanish, and three were Sherries.
